Vertebrates have a backbone or spine (vertebral column). पृष्ठवंशी प्राण्यांमध्ये पाठीचा कणा असतो (vertebral column). They include - ते आहेत
1. Fish: a limbless cold - blooded vertebrate animal with gills and fins and living wholly in water. - (पाण्यात राहणारे मासे ज्यांच्यामध्ये पाठीचा कणा नसतो. )
2. Amphibians: a cold - blooded vertebrate animal. Comprises the frogs, toads, newts, and salamanders. (अशे प्राणी जे पाणी आणि जमीन, दोन्हीं वर राहू शकतात. )
3. Reptiles: a cold - blooded vertebrate of a class that includes snakes, lizards, crocodiles, turtles, and tortoises. They are distinguished by having a dry scaly skin, and typically laying soft - shelled eggs on land. (रेंगणारे जंतु, ज्यांचे कोरडे परतदार खवले असतात. )
4. Birds: a warm - blooded egg - laying vertebrate distinguished by the possession of feathers, wings, and a beak and (typically) by being able to fly. (हे अंडे देऊ शकतात, यांचे पंख आणि चोच असते व हे उडू शकतात)
5. Mammals: a warm - blooded vertebrate animal of a class that is distinguished by the possession of hair or fur, the secretion of milk by females for the nourishment of the young, and (typically) the birth of live young. (स्तनधारी प्राणी, अशे पशु जे आपल्या पिल्लांना दूध पाजू शकतात. )
The remaining animals are the invertebrates, which lack a backbone. These include (बाकीचे प्राणी ते आहेत ज्यांच्यामधे कुठलेच हाड नसते)
1. Molluscs (clams, oysters, octopuses, squid, snails);
(गोगलगाई, कालव यांसारखे प्राणी)
2. Arthropods (millipedes, centipedes, insects, spiders, scorpions, crabs, lobsters, shrimp); (हे arthropoda जातीचे असतात व यांच्यामध्ये हाड नसते परंतु यांचे शेपूट शरीराला जुळलेले असते)
3. Annelids (earthworms, leeches), वृत्ताकारी कीड़े, ज्यांच्या शरीरात पोकळी असते.
4. Cnidarians (jellyfish, sea anemones, corals) (हा ताज्या पाण्यात आढळणारा एका प्रकारचा प्राणी असतो. )
5. Sponges. -
(हा पाणी शोषणारा जलचर प्राणी आहे. यांत खूप साऱ्या पेशी असतात, यांच्या शरीरात अनेक छिद्र असतात जे पाणी शोशण्यास उपयुक्त ठरतात. )
