Punctuation Rules: (ಚಿಹ್ನೆಹಾಕುವ ಮಾರ್ಗಸೂಚಿಗಳು)
1. Every sentence must end with a full stop. (ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ವಾಖ್ಯವು ಪೂರ್ಣ ವಿರಾಮದಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಗಬೇಕು. )
2. Proper nouns (names of people, places, brands, etc, i. e. unique instances of a class) must always be capitalised. (ಅಂಕಿಂತ ನಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡಕ್ಷರಡದಿಂದ ಬರೆಯಬೇಕು. )
3. When you use opening quotation marks, do not forget to use closing quotation marks at the end of the quoted word or phrase. (ಉದ್ಧರಣಾ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದಾಗ ಅದನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚುವುದನ್ನು ಮರೆಯಬೇಡಿ. )
4. Quotation marks are when quoting or sometimes to convey irony, not for emphasis; emphasis is conveyed by emboldening or italicisation, followed by an exclamation mark. (ಉದ್ಧರಣ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾರದ್ದಾದರು ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬಳಸಬೇಕು, ಮಹತ್ವದ ವಾಖ್ಯ ಹೇಳಲು ಅದನ್ನು ದಪ್ಪಕ್ಷರ ಅಥವಾ ಓರೇ ಅಕ್ಷರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯಬೇಕು. )
5. Do not use an apostrophe when you are pluralising a word. The plural of toy is toys, not toy's. Apostrophes are used to form contractions (it is = it’s) and indicate possession. (ಸಂಭೋಧನೆ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಯನ್ನು ಬಹುವಚನಕ್ಕೆ ಬಳಸಬಾರದು. ಸಂಬೋಧನೆ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಿರಿದು ಮಾಡಲು ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಉದಾ: It is ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು it's ಎಂದು. )
6. As per the rules of British English, any punctuation mark that is not part of a quoted section of text must be placed outside the quotation marks. However, in the case of direct speech, punctuation marks must be enclosed within the quotation marks. (ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷ್ ವ್ಯಾಕರಣ ನಿಯಮಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಯಾವುದೇ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಗಳು ಉದ್ಧರಣ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಯ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಳಸಬೇಕು. ಆದರೆ ನೇರ ವಾಖ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಉದ್ಧರಣಾ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಯ ಒಳಗೆಯೆ ಬಳಸಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. )
