What exactly is a ‘Self driven car’?
A self driven car is a robotic vehicle that is designed to travel between destinations without a human operator; it does not require human intervention for navigation. It just needs the human to feed the destination in its system and it will hit the roads by itself. The companies that are in the process of testing and developing these cars include Audi, BMW, Ford, Google, General Motors, Volkswagen and Volvo.
How does the Self driven car work?
The car has a mechanism where it requires the human being to feed in the destination he/she wants to go to. The car mirrors and in built sensors creates a 3D image of the environment around the car within the 60 meter range.
A sensor on the side of the car detects sideways movement. The sensors in the front detect obstacles and bumps. Which in turn adjusts the speed of the car accordingly; there is also a function which allows a human to take over the driving if they wish to. It’s like the car has a brain of its own.
Self driven cars are a next level technology that will work completely on the concept of artificial intelligence. It is the beginning of a new era and these robots are likely to hit the roads soon so don’t be surprised if a car on the road is having a good time all by itself.
