The movement strives to preserve traditional and regional cuisine and encourages farming of plants, seeds, and livestock characteristic of the local ecosystem.
The Slow Food organization includes over 100, 000 members with chapters in over 32 countries. It aims to promote healthy and clean food. Slow food, such as vegetables and fruits, may reduce the risk of heart disease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. Fresh produce retains all of its vitamins, minerals and enzymes, making it a healthier option to choose.
