What is Swachh Bharat Mission and when was it started?
Swachh Bharat Mission or also known as Clean India mission was a campaign that was launched on 2nd October 2014 across the length and breadth of the country. Its main objective is a cleaner and better India. It aims to clean the roads and streets of every city, town and rural part of India. It aspires to fulfill its mission by 2nd October 2019, which would also mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi.
How it is managed using technology?
1. Swachhta App By Ministry Of Urban Development:
If you want to report a cleanliness issue, you can now do that at the tap of your finger. Any person living in any part of India can register complains using the app, the app will recognize the location and will ask local or urban bodies to take required actions.
2. The Swachhta Helpline:
Swachhta Helpline 1969 has been introduced across the country. If the bins in your locality are not cleaned or the garbage collection vehicles are not showing up, you can call on this helpline and all your issued will be addressed.
3. Locate A Toilet Through Apps:
Now you can locate a toilet nearby by using the 'Google toilet locator' and 'Find X toilet' app. Though currently it is there only for citizens of New Delhi. The mobile app uses GPS to find nearby publicly accessible toilets and will provide the shortest route to the exact location.
Seeing the initiatives of the government, even the people have started to take part and are helping spread the message of ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness. ’
