4. Chithirai Festival :
Chithirai is a religious festival in Meenakshi Temple of Madurai. People celebrate it by pulling the golden chariot with idols, beating drums, exchanging sweets. A grand fair is also organized for 10 days to celebrate this festival. It is one of the most interesting festivals celebrated in South during summer.
5. Hemis Festival :
Hemis festival is hosted by Hemis Monastery every year in summer in India. It is quite popular in Ladakh. It is state holiday and celebrated with great joy on the 10th day of the Tibetan lunar month. It is also the birthday of the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, Padmasambhava. People wear traditional clothes at this festival. Women wear colorful headgears while men wear cummerbunds. This festival is celebrated in two days event with various cultures and customs.
6. Ooty Flower Festival :
Ooty Flower Festival is very popular in India during summer. This festival is known for its amazing flower show. People organize fairs with several activities like dancing, sports, trekking, music, delicious food and also art exhibitions.
7. Moatsu Festival :
The Moatsu festival is celebrated for 3 days in the first week of May celebrated by the Ao Naga trial community in Nagaland. It is celebrated to bring joy and fun in the community after tiring activities like clearing fields, burning the jungles, sowing seeds, clearing the wells, and repairing houses.
