1. Advise, Advice
Advise (Tavsiye etmek) - Offer suggestions about the best course of action to someone.
Advice (Tavsiye) - an opinion or recommendation offered as a guide to action, conduct, etc.
Example: Nazlı advised me to give Ali an advice on what to wear for the party.
(Nazı bana Ali'ye partide ne giymesi hakkında tavsiye vermemi öğütledi)
2. Weather, Whether
Weather (Hava durumu) - the state of the atmosphere at a particular place and time as regards heat, cloudiness, dryness, sunshine, wind, rain, etc.
Whether ( - ip - mediğini, - se de - mese de) - expressing a doubt or choice between alternatives.
Example: Whether you agree to it or not, the weather has become cold.
(Kabul etsen de etmesen de hava soğudu. )
3. Alter, Altar
Alter (değişim, başkalaşım) - change in character or composition, typically in a comparatively small but significant way.
Altar (sunak) - An elevated place or structure before which religious ceremonies may be enacted or upon which sacrifices may be offered.
Example: We need to alter the altar. It is very old now.
(Sunağı değiştirmemiz lazım. Şu an çok yaşlı. )
4. Principal, Principle
Principal (Ana, temel, birinci, müdür) - first in order of importance; main.
Principle (ilke) - morally correct behaviour and attitudes.
Example: The principal of that school is a man of principles.
(Şu okulun müdür bir ilkeler adamı)
5. Bare, Bear
Bare (çıplak) - (of a person or part of the body) not clothed or covered.
Bear (ayı) - a large, heavy mammal which walks on the soles of its feet, having thick fur and a very short tail
Bear (taşımak, dayanmak) - support; carry the weight of.
Example: The bear was bare. He was bearing the weight of the tree.
(Ayı çıplaktı. Ağacın ağırlığını taşıyordu. )
6. Whole, Hole
Whole (Bütün) - all of; entire.
Hole (Delik, çukur) - a hollow place in a solid body or surface.
There were holes in the whole cake.
(Bütün kekte delikler vardı. )
7. Prey, Pray
Prey (av hayvanı) - an animal that is hunted and killed by another for food.
Pray (dua) - address a prayer to God or another deity.
The elephant fell prey to the tiger and got hurt. Everybody was praying for the elephant to get well soon.
(Fil aslana av oldu ve yaralandı. Herkes filin bir an önce iyileşmesi için dua ediyordu. )
