1. Advise, Advice
Advise (सल्लाह दिनु) - Offer suggestions about the best course of action to someone.
Advice (सल्लाह) - an opinion or recommendation offered as a guide to action, conduct, etc.
Example: He advised me to give her an advice on what to wear for the party.
(उसले मलाई सल्लाह दियो कि म उसले पार्टीमा के लगाउनु पर्छ भनेर उसलाई सल्लाह दिउ)
2. Weather, Whether
Weather (मौसम) - the state of the atmosphere at a particular place and time as regards heat, cloudiness, dryness, sunshine, wind, rain, etc.
Whether (या, यदि, चाहे) - expressing a doubt or choice between alternatives.
Example: Whether you agree to it or not, the weather has become cold.
(चाहे तिमी मान या नमान, मौसम धेरै चिसो भएको छ. )
3. Alter, Altar
Alter (काटकुट गर्नु, बदल्नु) - change in character or composition, typically in a comparatively small but significant way.
Altar (अग्निहोत्रको स्थान) - An elevated place or structure before which religious ceremonies may be enacted or upon which sacrifices may be offered.
Example: We need to alter the altar. It is very old now.
(हामीले अग्निहोत्रको स्थान बदल्नु पर्छ. यो एकदम पुरानो भयो. )
4. Principal, Principle
Principal (प्रधान, मुख्य) - first in order of importance; main.
Principle (सिद्धान्त) - morally correct behaviour and attitudes.
Example: The principal of that school is a man of principles.
(त्यस स्कुलका प्रधानाचार्य सिद्धान्त भएका मान्छे हुन्. )
5. Bare, Bear
Bare (नाङगो) - (of a person or part of the body) not clothed or covered.
Bear (भालू) - a large, heavy mammal which walks on the soles of its feet, having thick fur and a very short tail
Bear (कष्ट उठाउनु, भार उठाउनु) - support; carry the weight of.
Example: The bear was bare. He was bearing the weight of the tree.
(भालू नाङगो थियो. त्यसले रुखको वज़नको भार उठाइरहेको थियो. )
6. Whole, Hole
Whole (सम्पूर्ण, पूरा) - all of; entire.
Hole (प्वाल) - a hollow place in a solid body or surface.
There were holes in the whole cake.
(पूरै केकमा प्वाल थियो. )
7. Prey, Pray
Prey (शिकार) - an animal that is hunted and killed by another for food.
Pray (प्रार्थना गर्नु) - address a prayer to God or another deity.
The elephant fell prey to the tiger and got hurt. Everybody was praying for the elephant to get well soon.
(हात्ती, बाघको शिकार भएको थियो र घाइते थियो. सबै उसलाई छिटो ठिक होस भनि प्रार्थना गरिरहेका थिए. )
