En Üstünlük Derecesi

Şanlıurfa is hot = Şanlıurfa sıcaktır.
Şanlıurfa is the hottest city in Turkey. = Şanlıurfa, Türkiye'deki en sıcak ildir.
Bir sıfatın en üstünlük hali, bir grup içindeki en üstün üyeyi belirtir. Burada 'en sıcak' (hottest) 'sıcak' (hot) sıfatının en üstünlük halidir.
Bu da, Türkiye'deki tüm iller içinde en sıcak olanının Şanlıurfa olduğu anlamına gelir.
İpucu
She is short = O (kadın) kısadır.
She is the shortest girl in our class. = O sınıfımızdaki en kısa kızdır.
Short -> Shortest.
Burada 'short' sözcüğünün en üstünlük hali 'shortest'tır.
Bir sıfatın en üstünlük halini oluşturmak için sonuna 'est' ekleriz.

She is pretty = O güzeldir.
She is the prettiest girl in the world. = O dünyadaki en güzel kız.
Burada 'pretty' sözcüğünün en üstünlük hali 'prettiest'tir.

The + sıfat + est.
Burada sıfatın en üstünlük halini oluştururken 'pretty' sıfatının sonundaki 'y' 'i'ye dönüşür.

He is intelligent = O, zekidir.
He is the most intelligent boy in the class. = O, sınıfın en zeki erkek çocuğudur.
Uzun sıfatların en üstünlük derecesi için sıfatın önüne 'most' getiririz.
'Most intelligent' 'intelligent' sıfatının en üstünlük halidir.
