Bir cümleyi olumsuz yapmak için 'do not' veya don’t kullanırız.

İngilizce konuşmuyorum
I do not speak English.
I don’t speak English.

İngilizce konuşmuyorum. = I do not speak English./I don't speak English.

İpucu

Bir cümleyi olumsuz yapmanın iki anahtarı vardır.
İlki, “to do” yardımcı fiilidir.

İkincisi, anlamca “no” ya benzeyen, fiili olumsuz yapan “not” sözcüğüdür.

'To do' çoğu diğer fiile benzer özelliklere sahiptir. Sadece 3. tekil şahıs (she/he/it) çekimlerinde farklılık gösterir.

O (erkek) İngilizce konuşmaz. = He does not speak English./He doesn’t speak English.

Bir kişinin İngilizce konuşmadığını şu şekilde söyleriz.

Hareket fiili 'speak'e ne olduğunu fark ettiniz mi?

'Do' kullandığımızda ise, hareket fiilinde (speak) değişiklik olmazken 'do' farklılık gösterir.

Daha önce de öğrendiğimiz gibi, her seferinde “do not” veya “does not” demek zorunda değiliz.
“Do not” yerine “don’t”, “does not” yerine “doesn’t” kullanabiliriz.
I do not speak English -> He does not speak English.
I don’t speak English -> He doesn’t speak English.
