Smart -> Smartest. மிக சிறிய வார்த்தைகள் superlative வடிவம் the + adjective + est சேர்த்து செய்யப்படுகிறது.

அவள் எங்கள் வகுப்பிலேயே மிக புத்திசாலியான பெண்
Intelligent -> Most intelligent. நீண்ட வார்த்தைகள் superlative வடிவம் 'the most' + adjective சேர்த்து செய்யப்படுகிறது.

இந்த வாரத்தைகளில் கடைசி இரண்டு எழுத்துக்கள் ஒரு ஸ்வரம் (o) பின்னர் ஒரு உயிர்மெய்யெழுத்து கிடைக்கும் (t),எனவே superlative இவ்வடிவத்தில் கடைசி எழுத்து இரண்டு முறை வரும் hottest. கடைசி எழுத்துக்கு முன்னாள் இரண்டு ஸ்வரம் உண்டு (steep) இடையில் இரண்டு முறை வராது (steepest).
