Smart -> Smartest. زیادہ تر چھوٹے الفاظ کا superlative فارم the + adjective + est لگا کر بن جاتا ہے۔
She is the most intelligent girl of our class
=
وہ ہماری جماعت کی سب سے عقلمند لڑکی ہے
Intelligent -> Most intelligent. زیادہ تر لمبے الفاظ کا superlative فارم 'the most' + adjective لگا کر بنایا جاتا ہے۔

جن الفاظ میں آخری دو حروف ایک حرف علت ’o‘ اور اس کے بعد ایک حرف صحیح ہو ’t‘، تو superlative فارم میں آخری حرف صحیح دوبار آئے گا hottest. اگر آخری حرف صحیح سے پہلے دو حروف علت ہوں ’steep‘ تو حرف صحیح دو بار نہیں آتا ’steepest‘.
