ഇത് 'direct speech'ആണ് -നമ്മൾ ആരുടെയെങ്കിലും പറഞ്ഞു കഴിഞ്ഞ സംഭാഷണത്തെ അയാളുടെ തന്നെ(വക്താവിന്റെ) അതേ വാക്യങ്ങളിൽ പറയുന്നതാണിത്. പറയുന്നയാൾ സ്വന്തമായി 'I' നോട് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.
അതിനാൽ നമ്മൾ എപ്പോഴാണോ പറയുന്നയാളിന്റെ വാക്യങ്ങളിൽ പറയുന്നത് അപ്പോൾ പറഞ്ഞു കഴിഞ്ഞ അതേ വാക്യങ്ങൾ തന്നെ വരുന്നു.
ഇനി നമ്മൾ വക്താവിന്റെ വാക്യങ്ങളിലാണ് പറയുന്നതെങ്കിൽ \'inverted commas\' ന്റെ അകത്ത് അതേ വാക്യങ്ങൾ അതുപോലെ എഴുതുന്നു.
അതിനാൽ നമ്മൾ എപ്പോഴാണോ പറയുന്നയാളിന്റെ വാക്യങ്ങളിൽ പറയുന്നത് അപ്പോൾ പറഞ്ഞു കഴിഞ്ഞ അതേ വാക്യങ്ങൾ തന്നെ വരുന്നു.
ഇനി നമ്മൾ വക്താവിന്റെ വാക്യങ്ങളിലാണ് പറയുന്നതെങ്കിൽ \'inverted commas\' ന്റെ അകത്ത് അതേ വാക്യങ്ങൾ അതുപോലെ എഴുതുന്നു.

ഇത് 'reported speech'ആണ് .നമ്മൾ ആരുടെയെങ്കിലും പറഞ്ഞു കഴിഞ്ഞ സംഭാഷണത്തെ നമ്മുടെ വാക്യങ്ങളിൽ പറയുന്നതാണിത്.
ഇവിടെ പറയുന്നയാൾ 'she' (3rd person) ആണ് . അതിനാൽ നമ്മൾ എപ്പോഴാണോ പറഞ്ഞു കഴിഞ്ഞ സംഭാഷണത്തെ നമ്മുടെ വാക്യങ്ങളിൽ പറയുന്നത് അപ്പോൾ നമ്മൾ അവളെ 'she' എന്ന് സംബോധന ചെയ്യുന്നു.

ഇവിടെ താങ്കൾ സ്വയം പറഞ്ഞ ഒരു കാര്യത്തെ റിപ്പോർട്ടഡ് ചെയ്യുകയാണ്(I).`ഇവിടെ റിപ്പോർട്ടഡ് ചെയ്യുന്നയാൾ താങ്കൾ തന്നെയാണ്, അതിനാൽ റിപ്പോർട്ടഡ് സ്പീച്ചിൽ personal pronoun - 'I', മാറുകയില്ല. എന്തെന്നാൽ താങ്കൾ സ്വയം പറഞ്ഞ കാര്യത്തെ സ്വയം റിപ്പോർട്ടഡ് ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ 'I' എന്നുതന്നെയാണ് അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്യുക.

Reported speech:ഇവിടെ work-> worked എന്തുകൊണ്ടായി എന്നാൽ मेंറിപ്പോർട്ടഡ്സ്പീച്ചിന്റെ ക്രിയ verb (said) ഭൂതകാലത്തിലാണ്. നമ്മൾ direct speech നെ reported speechലേക്ക് മാറ്റുമ്പോൾ reported verb (eg: said) ഭൂതകാലത്തിലാണ്, എന്നാലും reported speech ന്റെ tense, direct speechൽ തന്നിട്ടുള്ള tense ന്റെ ഭൂതകാലരൂപമായി മാറുന്നു.
ചിലപ്പോൾ ഇത്തരം വാക്യങ്ങളിൽ tense മാറുന്നില്ല.-ഇത് എപ്പോഴാണ് സംഭവിക്കുന്നതെന്നാൽ നമ്മൾ പറയുന്നകാര്യം പറയുന്ന സമയത്തും സത്യമായി തുടരുകയാണെങ്കിൽ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഏതെങ്കിലും 'universal truth' ആണെങ്കിൽ (eg: The Sun is a star)അങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കുന്നു.
