எனவே, ரிப்போர்ட் ஸ்பீச்-ல் personal pronoun - 'I', மாறாது.. ஏனெனில், நீங்கள் உங்களைப் பற்றியே பேசும்போது, உங்களை 'I' எனவே சொல்லவேண்டும்.

Reported speech: இங்கு work-> worked என மாறிவிட்டது. ஏனெனில் இங்கு ரிப்போர்ட் ஸ்பீச்சில் verb (said) என்பது கடந்த காலத்தில் உள்ளது. Direct speech ஐ reported speech க்கு மாற்றும் போது , reported verb (eg: said) கடந்தகாலத்தில் இருந்தால் reported speech இன் tense, direct speech ல் கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் tense இன் கடந்த காலத்தின் வடிவில் மாறுகிறது
சில இடங்களில் tense மாறாது. இது, நாம் சொல்வது இப்பொழுதும் நடப்பில் இருந்தாலோ, அல்லது ஏதாவது 'universal truth' பற்றி கூறும்போதோ (eg: The Sun is a star). tense மாறாது.
