Kalimat pasif dibentuk dengan menambahkan kata kerja bantu \'to be\' dan mengubah kata kerja utama menjadi Past Participle. Bentuk \'to be\' (be/am/is/are/was/were/been) disesuaikan dengan kata kerja bantu dan kata kerja utama pada kalimat aktif.
Perubahan yang terjadi pada contoh kalimat di atas:
\'Was\' (salah satu bentuk \'to be\') digunakan karena \'stole\' adalah Past Simple.
\'Stole\' (Past Simple) diubah menjadi \'stolen\' (Past Participle).
Perubahan yang terjadi pada contoh kalimat di atas:
\'Was\' (salah satu bentuk \'to be\') digunakan karena \'stole\' adalah Past Simple.
\'Stole\' (Past Simple) diubah menjadi \'stolen\' (Past Participle).
The teacher will collect our exam papers. (kalimat aktif)

Perubahan yang terjadi pada contoh kalimat di atas:
\'Be\' (salah satu bentuk \'to be\') digunakan karena ada kata kerja bantu \'will\'. Sesudah \'will\', kata kerja harus tidak berubah bentuk (infinitive).
\'Collect\' (Present Simple) diubah menjadi \'collected\' (Past Participle).
\'Be\' (salah satu bentuk \'to be\') digunakan karena ada kata kerja bantu \'will\'. Sesudah \'will\', kata kerja harus tidak berubah bentuk (infinitive).
\'Collect\' (Present Simple) diubah menjadi \'collected\' (Past Participle).
