Lesson 266 If vs. unless

ಸೂಚನೆ

ಹಿಮ ಬೀಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ = We'll go out unless it snows.

ಹಿಮ ಬೀಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ. = We'll go out if it doesn't snow.

ಎರಡು ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳು ಒಂದೇ ಅರ್ಥ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಆದರೆ 'unless' ತಾನಾಗಿಯೇ negative ಆಗಿದೆ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾವು 'unless it doesn't snow' ಹೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

If it doesn't snow = ಹಿಮ ಬೀಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದರೆ

Unless it snows =ಹಿಮಬೀಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದರೆ

Unless = 'If + don't/doesn't'.

'ನಿನಗೆ ಬಾಯಾರಿಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ನೀನೇಕೆ ಒಂದು ಬಾಟಲಿ ನೀರನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಬಾರದು?' ಇದರ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಅನುವಾದ ಆರಿಸಿ. ಆಡಿಯೋ ಕೇಳಿ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ

Unless you are thirsty, why don't you buy a bottle of water?

'ಒಂದುವೇಳೆ ಬಹಳ ಬಿಸಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಟ್ರೆಕ್ಕಿಂಗ್ ಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ.' ಇದರ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಅನುವಾದ ಆರಿಸಿ. ಆಡಿಯೋ ಕೇಳಿ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ

We'll go trekking unless it is too hot.

ಮಿಸ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಪದ ಆರಿಸಿ, ಖಾಲಿ ಜಾಗ ತುಂಬಿರಿ.

'ನಾನು ದಿನವು ಈಜಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದರೆ, ನನಗೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅನಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.' ಇದರ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಅನುವಾದ ಆರಿಸಿ ; ಆಂಗ್ಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುವಾದ ಮಾಡಿ

'ಇದು ತಪ್ಪಾಗಿಹೋದರೆ, ನಾವು ಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆವು.' ಇದರ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಅನುವಾದ ಆರಿಸಿ ; ಆಂಗ್ಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುವಾದ ಮಾಡಿ
