Connotation (noun) means an idea or feeling which accompanies a word and generates a feeling for a person which can either be 'positive' or 'negative'.

For E.g- The word : 'dishonesty' means 'lying to someone', so when we hear this word, it arouses a feeling of cheating, falsehood, and hence has a negative connotation (feeling).
