India has a comfortable wheat stock position with 32. 64 million tonnes of grain in the central pool at the beginning of June, an official statement said on Tuesday.
"The wheat stock in the Central Pool as on 1st June 2016 was 326. 38 lakh tonnes.
The annual requirement under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) is around 240 lakh tonnes.
The wheat stocks position in the country is thus comfortable, " a Food and Public Distribution Ministry statement here said.
"Food Corporation of India (FCI) is therefore having sufficient wheat stocks to meet out the requirement under National Food Security Act and other welfare schemes and also to meet out demand of wheat under Open Marker Sale Scheme, " it added.
