Seven police personnel have been awarded the President's Police Medal for Gallantry - - of them two posthumously - - on the occxasion of India's 70th Independence Day, it was announced on Sunday.
Sub - Inspector Dudekula Siddaiah and Constable Chougoni Nagaraju of Telangana Police have been posthumously awarded the President's Police Medal for Gallantry among a total of 948 police personnel honoured on the occasion.
Of those awarded, 170 have been named for the Police Medal for Gallantry, 88 for the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service, and 683 for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Nineteen personnel were awarded correctional service medals, including two who got President's Correctional Service Medal for Distinguished Service and 17 who were conferred Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) received 31 medals, including six President's Police Medals for Distinguished Service and 25 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.
Of the 20 Delhi Police officers conferred police medals, four received Police Medal for Gallantry, one President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service, and 16 Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was awarded 107 police medals, including 43 Police Medals for Gallantry, five President Police Medals for Distinguished Service, and 58 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.
The Border Security Force (BSF) received 62 awards, including 10 Police Medals for Gallantry, six President Police Medals for Distinguished Services, and 46 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.

The Indo - Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was conferred 25 police medals, Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) 13, and the Special Protection Group (SPG) eight.
The Intelligence Bureau of the ministry of home affairs was conferred 35 police medals, including one President Police Medal for Gallantry, eight President Police Medals for Distinguished Service, and 26 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.
