To mark the beginning of Vigilance Awareness Week, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman Dharmendra on Tuesday administered an integrity pledge to the heads of all the departments in the NDMC to fight against corruption and bring transparency in their working.
The NDMC is observing the Vigilance Awareness Week from October 27 to November 2 to emphasize the importance of integrity in government working and public life.
This year the theme of the Vigilance Awareness Week is Satark Bharat, Smriddh Bharat (Vigilant India, Prosperous India).
The NDMC also organized a webinar which was presided over by former diplomat, quiz master and motivational speaker, Deepak Vohra for senior officers and employees of the Council.
Vohra gave a presentation on the theme of "Ethics in Public Life".
He said that the entire society is being affected by corruption and breach of integrity at many levels.
Emphasizing that trust and integrity are inborn moral convictions of human beings, he said we should nurture them in our daily lives if we want to live in a corruption free society.
On the occasion, the Chief Technical Examiner of the Central Vigilance Commission Shailendra Singh interacted in another webinar with NDMC employees on the technical issues of a transparent tendering process and their specifications.
He stressed the importance of self - explanatory provision of the tender to avoid delay in execution of work.
During the Vigilance Awareness Week, NDMC is organizing various activities to create awareness about increasing transparency in government working and fighting against corruption through Informative, Educative and Communicative (IEC) activities like debates, quiz etc.
