President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday congratulated Devendra Jhajharia for winning a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
In a message to Jhajharia, the President said: "I am delighted to know that you have won the gold medal in men's javelin throw in athletics at the Rio Paralympics Games 2016. "
"You have done India proud and are truly an inspiration to the youth of our country.
The whole nation rejoices with your family and you on this outstanding achievement.
I congratulate you and wish the very best for the future, " he added.
Jhajharia is the first Indian to have won two Paralympic gold medals.
Earlier, he won a gold at the 2004 Athens Paralympics, where he set a world record with a throw of 62. 15 metres.
India has so far won four medals at the Rio Paralympics - - two golds, one silver and a bronze.
