Japanese car maker Nissan Motor Company on Thursday heartily welcomed Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu's budget announcement of setting up a rail - auto hub here.
"Chennai is one of major auto hubs in India and needs efficient and cost - effective infrastructure and logistics support. Now, with the rail auto hub, it will be a much - needed shot in the arm for economical, timely and efficient transportation of our cars to the port and will aid our export strategy immensely, " Nissan India president (operations) Guillaume Sicard was quoted as saying in a statement.
Nissan India is one of the largest exporters of passenger cars and has reached the landmark export figure of six lakh cars recently, it claimed.
