 Oscar winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has won Golden Reel Award for the documentary film "India's Daughter". 
 
Pookutty was nominated in two categories at Motion Picture Sound Editors' 63rd annual Golden Reel Awards for the films "Unfreedom" and "India's Daughter", both of which are banned in India. 
Pookutty won the award for Best Sound Music Editing: Television Documentary Short Form. 
"And we won the 63rd Golden Reel Award for 'India's Daughter'! First in Asia Golden reel coming home to India!" Pookutty wrote on his Twitter page on Sunday. 
Directed by Leslee Udwin, "India's Daughter" is about the gang rape of 23 year old trainee physiotherapist, who was brutally assaulted on December 16, 2012 in moving bus here. It kicked up storm after one of the convicts Mukesh Singh was interviewed in Delhi's Tihar Jail. 
Pookutty dedicated the award to "Nirbhaya's soul".  
"Is it true that really got it. It's for the true spirit of the youth of India. This goes to Nirbhaya's soul. !" he wrote in another Twitter post. 
The award ceremony was held at Westin Bonaventure Hotel Suites in Los Angeles on Saturday.
