A CBI court here on Tuesday convicted a Branch Manager of the Central Bank of India and four others, who will undergo rigorous imprisonment, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said.
In a statement, the CBI said R. Krishnadoss, Branch Manager of the Central Bank of India, was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50 lakh for sanctioning loans based on fake property documents to Mars Communications.
According to the premier investigation agency, Krishnadoss caused a wrongful loss of Rs 2, 96, 79, 542 to the bank.
The court also convicted four private persons - - V. Sundarrajan, Harnivasani, V. Karthika and M. Vinod - - to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a total fine of Rs 3. 08 crore.
