Celebrated author Chetan Bhagat, who has long been speaking in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was losing popularity because of his disconnect with the youth of India.

The bestselling author, in series of tweets, lashed out at the government for allegedly failing to fulfill election promise of generating jobs for youth.
"You know PM is losing connect with the youth when young student's speech from JNU is being talked about more than any 'Mann Ki Baat', Bhagat tweeted.
The series of Bhagat tweets came after front pages of Delhi based newspapers were splashed with Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union leader Kanhaiya Kumar's Thursday night speech at the university campus.
"(The) BJP promised reforms for huge job growth but is resorting to UPA style populism. What about the youth they charged up before elections, the author wrote.
In another tweet, he drew parallel between Kanhaiya Kumar and Gujarat political activist Hardik Patel who has been demanding job quota for the Patidar caste.
"Hardik Patel, Kanhaiya Kumar youth desperate for new leader who can relate to them, talks to them and takes questions. Why (the) govt doesn't, Bhagat wrote.
