Ancient Egypt has been the fan favorite guess for the setting of the new Assassin's Creed for a long time now. In fact, it's been rumored all the way back since Assassin's Creed II.
Rumors from this time last year suggested that the new game is code named Empire, that it's being developed by the team responsible for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and that it's being designed to have 'a Witcher feel'.
Last year's rumors also suggest a map three times the size of Black Flag, with no naval combat, little in the way of parkour, and no co - op.
That all seems as believable now as it did then, but the doesn't help decide whether this screenshot is real or not.
The image turned up unannounced on Reddit and, unlike some recent leaks, seems like it could be relatively easy to fake - or at least repurposed from some other source.
