Prime Minister Narendra Modis charisma and BJP chief Amit Shahs strategy have yet again powered the party to another electoral victory, this time in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
But it is the RSS leaders Sunil Bansal and Shiv Prakash who quietly worked behind the scenes to ensure the saffron flag continued to fly high.
Methodical in their approach and adept at micro - level management, Bansal and Shiv Prakash worked closely with Bharatiya Janata Party chief Shah to ensure the plans and strategies drawn in the war room were effectively implemented on the ground.
According to party insiders, Bansal, the BJP's General Secretary (Organisation) of Uttar Pradesh, played a key role in charting the party's aggressive political campaign in the high - stakes state of Uttar Pradesh.
Working in tandem with leaders at the top and workers at the grassroots, Bansal ensured the BJP repeated its 2014 Lok Sabha polls performance of winning 71 of the 80 Parliament seats and led in 328 of the 403 assembly segments.
"He played a key role in strengthening the BJP organisation in the state.
To counter Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's appeal among the youth, he worked tirelessly to popularise Moid's face among them, " said a party insider.
"Besides keeping workers and supporters enthused, Bansal was instrumental in keeping the poll campaign controversy - free, " he added.
Shiv Prakash, National Joint General Secretary (Organisation), too was key to the party's scheme of things in Uttarakhand.
Drawing strategies at the ground level and advising on candidate selection, Prakash ensured the BJP was able to cash in on the anti - incumbency factor against Chief Minister Harish Rawat - led Congress government in the hill state.
Shiv Prakash, a RSS Pracharak from Uttar Pradesh, also worked with Shah to ensure the party's victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
