The dreaded combination of cold and fog disrupted life in many parts of north India on Wednesday.
A portion of Srinagar's Dal Lake froze over as Jammu and Kashmir reeled under a cold wave that also swept through many parts of the northern plains while dense fog was reported from isolated areas in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
In Rajasthan, the hill town of Mount Abu shivered as the mercury dipped to 1. 6 degrees Celsius, followed by Churu at 1. 8 degrees. In Jaipur, the minimum temperature fell to 5. 4 degrees, almost 4 degrees below normal.
