Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged member nations of the G20 to be forthcoming on the issue of climate change.
As the lead speaker at a working session on sustainable development, climate and energy at the 12th G20 Summit here, Modi emphasised on the need for "cooperation in world of opposing realities", according to External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Gopal Baglay.
"PM stresses need to be forthcoming on climate change action and that developing countries must have enough room to grow, " Baglay tweeted.
Modi's comments come in wake after US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the Paris climate agreement saying that India and China stood to gain "billions and billions and billions of dollars" out of this.
The Prime Minister also emphasised that Skill India, Digital India, and financial inclusion measures are India's own initiatives in consonance with sustainable development goals.
Earlier in the day, Modi also spoke at a working session on global growth and trade, attended an informal meeting of the leaders of the BRICS nations hosted by China and also held bilateral meetings with his Japanese and Canadian counterparts, Shinzo Abe and Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the Summit.
