In Nepal intense cold weather has claimed at least 13 lives. Two persons died in Saptari district and one in Parsa district on Monday due to extreme cold.
According to police in last one week 7 persons lost their lives in Saptari, 4 in Rautahat and one each in Sarlahi and Parsa districts due to freezing cold.
However, according to some media reports at least 24 people have died in severe cold.
The entire Himalayan nation is in the grip of extreme cold waves. Tarai region is badly affected by severe cold waves and dense fog. Manang has recorded lowest temperature of minus 16 degree Celsius and Jumla recorded minus 8.
The capital Kathmandu recorded minimum zero temperature on Sunday, which was lowest since 2012.
According to Meteorological Forecasting Division of Nepal, temperature is likely to remain stable during next few days.
