A rise in the night temperatures was seen in the western and southern parts of West Bengal while the northern and eastern districts continued to reel under the severe cold conditions that has plagued the people of the state for the last few days.

In the sub - Himalayan West Bengal region of Coochbehar, the lowest temperature was recorded at 5. 2 degree Celsius, the Met department said.
