The Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer 2018 is currently taking place this week in Karachi and well - known menswear designer created history in Pakistan by showcasing something very special.
As part of the two segments he was showing at the FPW S/S 2018, six models who are part of the JS Academy for the deaf walked the runaway wearing Amir’s Dawn collection from his When in Karachi series. The segment was headed by Amir Adnan’s head designer who is also hearing - impaired.
According to Parishae Adnan, daughter of Amir Adnan who overlooks the brand, the purpose of the segment was to create awareness for the hearing impaired community.
She said that the aim wasn’t to show people that the deaf can walk the ramp too, it was actually to show that whether its FPW or any other platform, hearing impaired can do anything too if they set their minds on something.
Walking down the ramp, the six hearing impaired models also used the universal sign language to tell people ‘deaf can do anything’. This was the official hashtag for this special segment too.
