The National Search and Rescue Agency (BNPP) has deployed an underwater robot to help locate a boat that capsized on Lake Toba on Monday afternoon.
"We will be using an underwater robot to locate the boat and victims, " Tanjung Pinang BNPP head Budi Cahyadi told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.
Budi, along with his team of four officers, departed for Lake Toba to join the search and rescue efforts. They are scheduled to arrive in Lake Toba on Wednesday at 3 a. m.
According to Budi, the robot is equipped with a camera and controlled remotely to locate underwater objects.
"Once we manage to locate the boat, we will decide what efforts are necessary to evacuate the victims, " Budi said.
