 Parliamentarians, including Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, on Saturday paid homage to Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on his 133 birth anniversary. 
They paid floral tributes to Savarkar here at the central hall of the parliament. 
booklet containing the profile of Savarkar, brought out in Hindi and English by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was presented to the dignitaries. 
The portrait of Savarkar was unveiled by the then President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, in the Central Hall of Parliament House on February 26, 2003. 
Born on May 28, 1883 in Nashik in Maharashtra, Savarkar, later known as 'Swatantraveer' Savarkar, was revolutionary and Hindu nationalist who was imprisoned by the British in the Cellular Jail in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. 
Educated in Pune and London, he died in Mumbai on February 26, 1966, aged 82.
