we use wasand were in past continuous tense and in simple past tenses. we use were with they, we, you and plural nouns. ex- तुम मेरे मित्र थे । You were my friend/friends. तुम जा रहे थे। You were going. we use was with I, she, he, it and singuler nouns. ex- वह एक राजा था। He was a king. मैं जा रहा था । I was going.
