Why we use is after third person

because the third person is only one so it is singular so we uses is ... Ex : * The third competitor is my friend ..

We use is after third person singular pronoun not after only third person pronoun. Then its name clears that it is singular and we know any singular noun takes singular verb. Ex:- She is a pretty girl.
