what is the difference between since and from

1) since is used for a point in time, to indicate a time from the past, till now. to tell simple, the work that is started at the point of time. eg: he has been waiting here since 8 o' clock. I have known him since 2016. 2) from is used to indicate a place. eg: he came from the college.
