Mahatma Gandhi Mahatma Gandhi is called the 'Father of Indian nation '.He was born on October 2,1869 at Rajkot in Gujarat. He was named Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Gandhi studied law in England and went to South Africa to practise it.He saw the condition of the Indians there and felt sad.He returned to India and started a movement to make people aware that they could live in a free country.The British were treating the Indians like slaves. He suffered much for the sake of the country and went to jail many times. Along with other leaders like Nehru, Patel, Azad, Tilak , Bose, etc, he fought for India's freedom in a non-violent way without using any weapons. Finally, on August 15,1947, India got her freedom. He was shot by Nathuram Godse on January 30,1948

Mahatma Gandhi is called as Mahatma because of his great works and greatness all through the life. He was a great freedom fighter and non-violent activist who always followed non-violence all though his life while leading India for the independence from British rule. He was born on 2nd of October in 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat, India.
