Why were you playing with him - is correct sentence. ( here is ' verb1st form +ing ' so we use were) Why did you playing with him - is incorrect sentence. (this is wrong sentence ) Why did you play with him - is correct sentence. ( This is right sentence because - when 'did' comes in the sentence then we use only verb's 1st form not 'ing')

1st sentence is correct. Because this is in Past Continuous Tense. 2nd sentence is wrong. Because, "Did" is used in Simple past Tense. Ex :- Did he complete his homework ? So, the correct sentence is :- Why did he play with him ?
