His - possessive adjective, used as an adjective for a male. For ex:- His brothers are smart. Him - objective pronoun, used as an object for a male. For ex:- I gave him this beautiful watch on his birthday.

Both "his &him " is used as a pronoun but his is possessive pronoun or possessive adjective and him is used as a objective pronoun.e.g :his sister lives in india . shan is better writer than ali.
