"Main verb" - Eat, sleep, work, run, write, drink, think, read etc. This is "main verbs" that comes after auxiliary verb. "Auxiliary verb" - Is, are, am, was, were, had, have, has, shall, will, can , could, may, might etc. This is "auxiliary verb" that comes before main verb or comes after subject.

What is the difference between main verb and auxiliary verb? Hi! You have to think this: the main verb will help you to understand the meaning of a sentence, what the subject is doing- the action-. For example : You will understand what he is doing Present time He goes but the auxiliary verb will help to say/write that sentence with the proper rules of grammar. For example: if you want to say that he sings in a different time you will need the proper auxiliary verbs for apply that verbal time. Present perfect time ( here you use HAS) He has gone Sometimes you need an auxiliary verb to form the interrogative or negative form of a verbal time like "past time" Did he go? (here you use DID) He didn't go ( here you use DID NOT)
