Diffrence between listen and hear

Listen = to pay attention to a speech or sound. Ex... Please listen carefully as I explain. I like to listen to music. Hear = to perceive sounds through the ear. Ex..I hear a sound from outside the window.

When we hear something, it is by chance. This means we are not actively paying attention or waiting for the sound. or listen - we can listen for a sound that we are expecting. This means we are quietly waiting for the sound.
