All complete English verbs have five forms: play, plays, played, played, playing go, goes, read, reads, read, read, reading write, writes, wrote, written, writing, I hope by the 2nd form, you really mean the 3rd form. The 2nd form is used with 3rd person singular subjects to express present indefinite, i.e. actions that are repeated, periodic, habitual, universal truths, or happen regularly. The 3rd from is used to express past actions, i.e. actions that happened once in the past and have no sense of continuing further. I wrote the letter yesterday. We played cricket at school.
