what is the difference between told and said

If we want to say something to someone, we use "told." Ex..He told me that we would attend the function. If we don't mention, to whom we are saying, we use "said." Here we mention literal words of the speaker but don't mention to whom we are saying. Ex..He said, "where are you going?"

when do use of "told" say that corrent information by other example he told me 'that I will go Mumba after lockdown when use of said it's use of past information by other example she said me I was very happy befor lockdown
