can anyone help me... तुम मूवी के दौरान किससे बात कर रहे थे "Who" were u talking to during the movie... Here why didn't we use -- "Whom" were u talking to during the movie... it's used in lesson 151. plz clear me

Let me explain this .Now it has become a prestige point. Look zoya, You know that 'who' and 'whom' both are interrogative pronouns. Who refers to the subject of the verb. Q.who gave you the money ? A. Meera gave me the money Whom refers to the object of the verb or the preposition. Q. To whom did you give the money ? A. I gave the money to Meera. Now the above sentence can be framed in three ways - 1. Who were you talking to during the movie ?(Conversationally accepted not grammatically ) 2.To whom were you talking during the movie ?(Formal and grammatically correct ) 3. Whom were you talking to during the movie? (Formal and grammatically correct ).

Whom is object Who is subject In modern days whom has almost been replaced with who But it is ungrammatical... so in this way u can speak with both the way...
