Let us first learn about the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.

Rajya Sabha, or the upper house of the parliament of India. There can be maximum of 250 members in the Rajya sabha, out of which 12 members are appointed by the President. These members are appointed for their contributions to art, literature, science, and social services.

Lok Sabha, or the lower house of the parliament of India. It is known as the House of the People. The total number of members is 552, out of which 530 represent the states, up to 20 members to represent the Union Territories and not more than two members of the Anglo Indian Community to be nominated by the President of India, if, in his/her opinion, that community is not adequately represented in the House.

Now, during the presidential election, it is these members from the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, who are among the members that elect the president. This does not include the members who are elected by the President himself.
