Air pollution can further be classified into two sections - Visible air pollution and invisible air pollution. Another way of looking at Air pollution could be any substance that holds the potential to hinder the atmosphere or the well being of the living beings surviving in it. The sustainment of all things living is due to a combination of gases that collectively form the atmosphere; the imbalance caused by the increase or decrease of the percentage of these gases can be harmful for survival.
The Ozone layer considered crucial for the existence of the ecosystems as it protects us from the direct UV rays of the sun on the planet is depleting due to increased pollution. Global warming, a direct result of the increased imbalance of gases in the atmosphere has come to be known as the biggest threat and challenge that the contemporary world has to overcome in a bid for survival.
Pollutants such as sulfur - dioxide emitted from factories, Smog etc . are major causes of pollution. Rapid urbanization, pollution growth, vehicles and factories all cause pollution in the environment.
When you do exercise outside, stay as far as you can from heavily trafficked roads. Then shower and wash your clothes to remove fine particles. If the air quality is bad, stay inside with windows closed. Wear sunscreen. When ultraviolet radiation comes through the weakened ozone layer, it can cause skin damage and skin cancer.
Pollutants can be really hazardous to health and therefore a startup company Chakr Innovation in Delhi has managed to raise pollutants into processed ink. The company recently raised undisclosed amounts of funds for being innovative.
The company has developed a pollution controlling device called ‘Chakr Sheild’ which fits in the exhaust pipe of a diesel generator and captures 90% pollution particles. The ink produced from these is then used in printers and to write and paint.
