Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists on Wednesday held a "symbolic protest" at the Delhi Police headquarters here over what they alleged was police inaction against those who raised anti - India slogans at the JNU last year.
The protesters demanded action against those who raised slogans against the country at the JNU campus.
They, however, did not submit any memorandum to the police on the matter.
The protesters raised slogans like 'Deshdrohi par reham karne wali Delhi Police sharm karo!
(Shame on Delhi Police for sympathising with anti - nationals), 'JNU mein deshdrohi naaro par kaarwahi kab?'
(When acttion against JNU's anti - national sloganeers?).
"We haven't been able to hold a dialogue with police.
This is a symbolic protest just to remind them that anti - national slogans were raised on the JNU campus by some communist cadres, " ABVP Media Convener Saket Bahuguna told IANS.
"After creating a commotion at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, these anti - national sloganeers have now moved to the Delhi University.
Delhi Police have a responsibility in the matter but they have not been able to file a chargesheet in this case, " Bahuguna said.
"Police have not been able to identify all the culprits, even while facts are coming out that anti - national slogans were indeed raised at the JNU and also at the Ramjas College, " he added.
After the February 22 violence at the Ramjas College, a Lady Sriram College student and daughter of a Kargil martyr, Gurmehar Kaur, had launched a social media campaign #StudentsAgainstABVP - from which she withdrew after receiving rape and murder threats.
"There have been many attempts to divert attention from this issue - - like Gurmehar Kaur coming in with her campaign alongside many allegations against the ABVP, " Bahuguna said.
"But the ABVP knows that the fight is against very dangerous people; those who are trying to break this country, trying to justify stone - pelting by separatists in Kashmir, trying to justify Maoist violence in Bastar in Chhattisgarh, and are also trying to justify the arms struggles, " the ABVP leader said.
The ABVP is the students wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
