Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday thanked Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for complimenting him and his party for the victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Assembly polls.

Modi said in a tweet.
Gandhi, in a series of tweets earlier on Saturday, congratulated Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their victory in the two states.
Gandhi also said the Congress would continue to fight till it won "the hearts and minds of people".
"I congratulate Shri Narendra Modi and the BJP on their victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, " Gandhi tweeted.
He also congratulated Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh for the party's victory and said it was a mandate for a brighter future of the state.
"My heartiest congratulations to Capt Amarinder Singhji and all our party workers who worked tirelessly @capt_amarinder, " Gandhi said in another tweet.
In his tweet addressed to party workers, Gandhi said the party stands committed to its values.
"To all Congress workers across India: We stand resolute and committed to our values and our belief in an India united in strength and purpose.
Our fight continues and will not end. . . , " he said.
He later again thanked the people of Goa and Manipur after it emerged as the single largest party in the two states the two states.
"I thank the people of Goa and Manipur for their love and support to the Congress Party.
Congratulations to our workers and leaders in both states, " said Gandhi.
The Congress won 28 seats and the BJP bagged 21 seats in Manipur.
BJP - ruled Goa appeared headed for a hung assembly, with both the Congress and the BJP claiming they will form the government in the coastal state.
The Congress emerged as the single largest party in the 40 - member house with 17 seats while the BJP won only 13.
