The result of the international friendly match between India and Nepal ended along the expected lines. Ranked 100th in the FIFA rankings, India were favorites taking on Nepal placed 169.
And the hosts established their supremacy getting the better of their neighbours 2 - 0.
However, the Indian team will go home with disappointing faces especially ahead of their important Asian Cup qualifiers clash with Kyrgyzstan on June 13.
On a hot and sultry evening at Shahaji Raje Krida Sankul or Andheri Sports Complex, Sandesh Jhingan (60th minute) and Jeje Lalpekhlua (78) struck a goal apiece, in the second half, to give India something to cheer about on an otherwise a disappointing day when they failed to convert some easy chances.
With a decent number of fans to back their team, India had everything in their favour to trump their much weaker opponents. The only minus was they went into the game without their star striker Sunil Chhetri, who was rested by the team management.
